Mouvent introduces 7-color UV inkjet label presses

Mouvent, a new company founded by Bobst and Radex focused on digital print, launches its first label printing systems at Labelexpo Europe 2017.

The Mouvent LB701-UV digital inkjet press is a 170mm-wide machine

This includes two 7-color UV inkjet printers, LB701-UV and LB702-UV, which are web presses that print on substrates such as paper, self-adhesive labels and flexible materials, in widths of 170mm and 340mm respectively. Production speeds can reach up to 100m/min with a native resolution of 1,200 x 1,200 DPI and an optical resolution of 2,000 DPI. Water-based products are in development, and will also be presented at Labelexpo Europe 2017.

Mouvent, a joint venture from Bobst and Radex, develops, engineers, tests, and industrializes digital printers, using technology developed by Radex that uses a ‘cluster’ design as the base building block for all systems, current and in development.

Martin van Waeyenberge, marketing and sales manager for label machines at Mouvent, explained: ‘The Mouvent Cluster represents a completely new approach – using a base cluster arranged in a modular, scalable matrix, instead of having different print bars for different applications and different print widths. This simple yet completely innovative approach is the key technology that differentiates the Mouvent machines. The innovation ultimately translates into high optical resolution for a crisp, colorful, very high printing quality as well as a never-seen-before flexibility and possibilities in terms of machine development.’

LB701-UV uses a single cluster configuration for each color, giving a claimed throughput of 1.8 million sqm a year, while LB702-UV uses two clusters integrated for each color, resulting in throughput of over 3.7 million sqm a year, according to van Waeyenberge.

Mouvent is exhibiting at Labelexpo Europe 2017 alongside Bobst, and van Waeyenberge added: ‘We have some genuinely ground-breaking technology to present, which we believe will bring substantial benefit to companies. Digital printing will have an ever-increasing role to play – particularly in label-printing – as the industry fulfills demand for expedited delivery, improved time to market, as well as versioning and personalization, and we want to be at the forefront of that.

‘Labelexpo Europe 2017 is a fantastic opportunity for Mouvent to introduce ourselves to people who can benefit from the new range of innovative digital printing solutions we have to offer and we are looking forward to four productive days of discussion.’
