Product launches at Labelexpo Americas 2004

Posted in Latest News on 23rd April 2004

The following products are among those to be launched at Labelexpo Americas 2004, 13-16 September, in Chicago.

Multi-Plastics offers Heat Sealable Films

Multi-Plastics, Inc. now offer Heat Sealable Films (HSF) for the packaging industry.  A clear, wide seal range, two-side sealable, coextrueded OPP film is now available in roll or sheet configurations with a gauge range of .00080” to .00140”.  Typical applications include both vffs and hffs in laminated or single web form.  This product offers higher packaging speeds, lower sealing temperatures, and stable CoF advantages over typical heat seal films.  More PVdC and acrylic coated polypropylene films are being added and polyester lidding materials are being introduced.

Mach III Clutch looking forward to another successful Labelexpo Americas

Due to the impressive response from the company's participation in 2002, Mach III Clutch, Inc. will again exhibit the patented SensiFlex pneumatic tension control clutches and brakes at this year's event.   Narrow web and label converters seeking to improve tension control will be able top use two hands-on demonstration units to learn more about the product line's key features, including continuous smooth operation over a broad range of air pressure and superior thermal capacity.  New to the SensiFlex product line this year are four sizes of foot mounted clutches ideal for retrofit applications replacing similar-sized magnetic particle models.  Application engineering personnel will be on hand to discuss solutions to attendees' tension control clutch and brake challenges.

New products and services from Spinnaker

In preparation for Labelexpo Americas 2004, Spinnaker Coating is developing exciting new products and services for label converters, in addition to the usual quality products and customer-friendly, flexible business attitude that Spinnaker's customers have come to enjoy and expect.

A new line of acrylic adhesives will offer better adhesive performance at a lower overall cost, complementing Spinnaker's traditional high-performance adhesive line, and offering reasonably priced, new customized product possibilities.

At Labelexpo Americas, the company will also feature new custom-coat manufacturing capabilities, allowing fast, economical custom products with low minimum order requirements and a wide selection of components - and Spinnaker's new and expanding line of “Trimless from Troy” products will give converters the option of buying high-quality Spinnaker products in just the quantities they need.

Reduced score lines

Score lines can cause poor print quality and excessive downtime, which is why the Max Daetwyler Corporation is presenting the durable nickel-coated Soft Doctor Blade at Labelexpo Americas 2004.  This special coating slows down blade wear, which reduces the amount and size of steel particles that accumulate in your inks.  As a direct result, the Soft Doctor Blade has proven to significantly reduce score lines in flexo applications.  The durable coating also protects this blade from corrosion and is recommended for use with high pH inks, as well as solvent-based inks and coatings.

T&P Provides Tooling Solutions

If you look closely at the pricing labels on supermarket products, there is a semi-circular hole on each end of the label.  When manufactured for the label applicators, the rolls of stock have full holes punched into the rolls at approximately 12mm repeat.  T&P provides the rotary tooling to punch through the face stock, adhesive and liner.  The product is then perfed and slit prior to completion.  In a move away from rotary dies, more converters are changing to a male/female rotary punching solution that Tools & Production can provide.  Punch units can be designed for the die stations of most flexo presses or mounted onto the press, if a platform and gearbox drive is available.

Increase productivity with Jalema

Choosing the correct method to store and protect film and photopolymer plates is as important as the job itself - because if the material is damaged or can't be found, productivity and profitability suffers.  Jalema is introducing ITS new Grafi-System products at Labelexpo Americas to address these filing issues.

Double pocket files with a dust/light flap are made of a pH neutral Kraft linerboard material that helps protect valuable film, photopolymer plates and other important job material and information. High-density floor racks for archive storage saves space while wall racks, table arms and mobile carts allow for and efficient flow of jobs throughout the production process.  Color-coded labels allow for fast and easy retrieval.

Free material testing service at Labelexpo Americas 2004

Trim and matrix removal system developer Precision AirConvey Corp., Newark, Del., is offering a free trim and matrix material testing service at Labelexpo Americas 2004.  The free service enables label and narrow web printers and converters to test their own trim and matrix materials in a fully operational, automated trim and matrix removal system to be installed at the PAC booth.  The live demonstrations will accommodate pressure-sensitive, fabric, metallized and other labels as well as forms, carton board and other materials.  To participate, attendees may bring or arrange to send a sample of their waste material to the PAC booth.

Machine sharpened rotary dies

Since the beginning of rotary die cutting time, rotary dies have always been manually sharpened by hand - until now.  Wilson Manufacturing has developed the technology and now officially offers truly revolutionary CNC machine sharpened dies.

Nearly five years on, and a million dollars later, Wilson offers the only machine sharpened die known in the industry.  Machine sharpened dies offer benefits such as longer life and flexibility to cut nearly any face material you choose providing the liner remains consistent.
