Pulse to exhibit at Dubai print show

Posted in Latest News on 25th February 2009

UK ink manufacturer Pulse Roll Label Products will introduce its range of UV inks to the Middle Eastern label printing industry at Gulf Print, Dubai, 6–9 April 2009. The company's portfolio includes UV and water-based inks, coatings, and adhesives for the label printing industry as well as special effect inks, pressroom products and cleaning solutions.

'This is our first exhibition in the region and combines Gulf Print, Gulf Pack and the Label Summit Middle East so is an excellent venue in which to expand our activities,' says managing director Gary Seward. 'We will be actively networking with exhibiting companies and visitors with a view to establishing a team of distributors for Pulse products throughout the region.'

Recent developments from Pulse include SFlex, a UV flexo silver ink formulated to provide optimized pigment stability, long term gloss retention properties, and brilliance while reducing anilox volume.

'Today's printers are under pressure to supply high, stand-alone graphic impact and metallic ink is one way of achieving this,' said Seward. 'With SFlex we have addressed brightness and over-printability issues, as well as the tendency for pigment from silver inks to settle out in the tray.'

'SFlex has been the subject of extensive trials that have proved its pigment stability, gloss retention and reduction in anilox volume making it an advancement to current technology. It has also passed the climate test demonstrating exceptional long-term stability at higher temperatures. This will enable our customers to both safely store and print with this product in locations with elevated temperatures.'

The company has also recently developed a UV flexo release varnish for peel and read booklet labels following a full year of age testing. The new UV flexo formulation of its EL165 system is an alternative technology as most varnishes for peel and read use the more expensive cationic technology. 'EL165 is around 20 percent less costly and eliminates the danger of free radical contamination making it easier to handle press side,' explained Seward.

Also new in this range is ELO95 is a super matt, UV flexo varnish formulated to eliminate foaming. 'The primary drawback of many matt varnishes has been the tendency of foaming and thickening in the ink tray,' said Seward. 'This thickening is caused by the size of the matt particles collecting in the tray during the print run.  ELO95 eliminates this problem due to a special manufacturing technique and formulation that keeps the matt particles fully in suspension.' EL095 is foil blockable and over-printable and the smoothness of the matt surface lends itself to hot and cold foiling and enables packers to vacuum apply labels.
