Unilux makes new appointments

Unilux, a manufacturer of strobe-based industrial inspection systems, has appointed Kathleen Gnudi as production manager and Diana Callahan as inventory control manager. Callahan will now concentrate exclusively on purchasing and inventory control management, having managed both functions for the last seven years.  

The company says it has made the appointments in order to meet the demands of its expanding product lines, and its engineering department will be enlarged in 2010 to expedite product development. 

‘We have reached the point where product and inventory management need to be separate functions, and we are pleased to have Kathleen and Diana filling those roles,’ said Michael Simonis, president, Unilux. ‘Diana is a 21-year veteran of Unilux with detailed knowledge of our needs and suppliers. In her new position she will be able to devote all of her time to visiting and qualifying our vendors and purchasing components. Kathleen’s extensive background in setting up manufacturing and assembly systems will help us bring our new products to market more efficiently and expand to meet our business growth and maintain our competitive edge.’ 

Gnudi joins Unilux after spending the past 16 months as a project management consultant, helping to develop and implement hiring, production and evaluation systems. Before that, she helped corporations such as AT&T and Tyco and start-up companies set up production systems. She earned a degree in electronics engineering from DeVry University and has certifications as a Project Management Professional and for Lean and Six Sigma GBelt for manufacturing. 

Callahan has been involved in just about every phase of Unilux’s business operations during her tenure, including shipping and software integration. She had been in charge of purchasing before being given overall management of production and inventory. 

‘Getting Kathleen and Diana in position is just the start of our next phase of expansion,’ Simonis said. ‘We are seeking additional engineers with experience in strobe light design and electronics both to develop new products and upgrade our existing product lines. By combining the latest electronics and intelligent control systems with more efficient purchasing and production systems, we’ll be able to bring our customers better production inspection and maintenance tools, a wider choice of tools and lower pricing and life-cycle costs. In short, we will be better able to deliver what the market demands.’
