Since 1980 AWA Alexander Watson Associates has regularly published reports on specialty materials markets. In September 2005 AWA published the first edition of Specialty Papers: Global Market & Opportunity Sourcebook 2005. This report was updated and expanded in 2009. The economic climate, major developments in Asia, and numerous resulting industry changes in the last year, have created a need to update the report. Specialty papers and paperboards represent a part of the paper industry where demands are more specific and tailor-made products are required. Specialty papers present possibilities for adding value, and the industry has been dynamic in the past year with the coming and going of specialty paper producers.
