Color-Logic has released two 2026 calendars, now available at no charge for everyone to print, designed to showcase metallic print embellishments and demonstrate the company's technologies.

Designed to be printed with white ink or toner on metallic stock using digital presses or printers, these calendars feature metallic embellishments to celebrate the new year.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) has hosted its third Ada Lovelace event, welcoming over 30 girls aged 12 and 13 from three schools to its Client Engagement Centre in Houghton Regis.

The event was organized in partnership with TechGirls, an outreach provider focused on encouraging girls to pursue technology careers. Currently, 17 percent of technology sector workers are female, according to TechGirls, which works to bridge the digital skills gap and diversify the industry.

'We really do rely on partners like Konica Minolta, who do incredible work in raising curiosity and creating ambition amongst young girls, inspiring them in their academic choices and future career paths,' stated Sukvinder Kathuria, founder of TechGirls.

Participants were introduced to printing technology and created posters to inspire other girls to consider STEM subjects. The students saw their work professionally printed during the visit.

'This is one of the most important events in Konica Minolta's calendar,' commented Gemma Lee, chief people officer at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK). 'Hosted at our Client Engagement Centre, it provides us with an amazing opportunity to share our enthusiasm with young girls at an important time in their school lives.'

Konica Minolta operates employee resource groups including Balance, a network for women where the Ada Lovelace day concept originated. The company also runs Vibrant for LGBTQ+ employees and Breathe for wellbeing.

Flexo Image Graphics has reported order generation at Labelexpo Asia 2025, where it exhibited alongside principals Rhyguan, Luster and IUV at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from December 2 to 5.

The company showcased the Rhyguan RF-330 intermittent flexographic press, Rhyguan Plus-330 converting machine, Luster inspection systems, and IUV/UV LED curing equipment. Featured products included a Luster off-line inspection machine equipped with an 8K camera with 450mm width and VP8 software, plus an off-line Luster inspection system with an A3 scanner.

'In addition to a good number of trade visitors from India, we were overwhelmed to witness many from South Asian countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka who thronged to the expo with a serious mindset of investing in modern machines and technologies,' remarked Gourav Roy, managing director of Flexo Image Graphics.

Luster held an open house at its Suzhou, China, facility one day before the exhibition. IUV manufactures UV LED curing systems designed for printing, coating and converting equipment from manufacturers including Rhyguan, Weigang and Dowell.

Flexo Image Graphics represents equipment suppliers including Mark Andy, DYM Machinery, DCM ATN, Rotoflex, Kluge, KDS Quantum and Presstek. The company is headquartered in Delhi with branches in Mumbai and Chennai.

Inessens has installed three Domino K300 monochrome inkjet printers at its Imprimerie Bidoit site in Cognac, France, to strengthen its variable 2D code printing capabilities.

The investment enables the company to help customers comply with EU wine labeling legislation by adding high-resolution 2D codes, unlocking opportunities for enhanced traceability and customer engagement.

Inessens comprises nine French printing houses, serving industries including wine, spirits, food, cosmetics, perfumes and medical. The company is known for pioneering label design, including the use of natural pigments, anti-counterfeiting Fresnel lens technology and advanced variable data and 2D code printing.

'Innovation is at the heart of everything we do,' commented Sébastien Garaboeuf, industrial director at Inessens. 'We constantly anticipate market trends and expand our expertise to offer new printing and material options that help our customers stand out. Customizing labels with monochrome variable data and 2D codes is part of this strategy.'

Inessens has been partnering with Domino Printing Sciences on variable data printing for 20 years. The company first adopted a Domino inkjet numbering system in 2005, upgraded to two K150 monochrome inkjet printers in 2008 and added a K600i printer to its portfolio in 2011.

Most recently, Inessens continued this evolution by replacing the K150 printers with the latest K300 models. This upgrade enhances print quality to up to 600 DPI and enables production at up to 250m/min.

'The K300s are ideal for adding unique numbering and variable QR codes to the premium wine labels we finish on a flexo process. They help us to reliably customize large volumes of labels without waste, enabling us to meet short-run, short lead time demands cost-effectively,' explained Garaboeuf. 'Our Domino systems have shown excellent reliability over the past 20 years, leading us to choose Domino again and again.'

Looking ahead, Inessens plans to expand its expertise in variable data and 2D code printing across its network, introducing new label and packaging options tailored to customer needs.

Xeikon unveils subscription-model press at Labelexpo Asia

Xeikon has unveiled an entry-level toner press for the Asia-Pacific label market available through a subscription-based model rather than a Capex investment.

Launched at Labelexpo Asia 2025 in Shanghai, the Ecolyne press is targeted at smaller printers and e-commerce-driven label converters in the region who have not purchased a digital press because they lack the capital or the operational bandwidth.

By subscribing to label printing capacity rather than owning the hardware, converters can scale production when needed and sidestep a heavy initial investment. Much like an auto leasing agreement, at the end of the subscription period the press can be handed back to Xeikon. The subscription includes installation, servicing and consumables.

‘In many parts of Asia, the label-printing scene is changing fast,’ said Xeikon president Walter Benz. ‘Small to mid-sized converters also see increasing demand for shorter runs and faster turnaround. They need access to digital label printing capacity now. That’s why we bring Ecolyne to Asia first. We see a strong need here for simple, reliable digital production without the burden of ownership.’

The 330mm-wide Ecolyne press uses the same core imaging technology as Xeikon’s existing CX-series toner presses, printing at 25 m/min at 1200 DPI resolution with the ability to run substrates from coated or uncoated paper to PP (white or clear), PET and metallised film. Using Xeikon’s food-safe dry toner system, the Ecolyne press is available in both a 4-color (CMYK) and 5-color (CMYK+white) configurations.

The Ecolyne has a smaller footprint than the standard Xeikon CX press, made possible by taking away the web conditioning unit at the delivery and attaching the control screen to the press itself rather than on a separate console.

The press is offered only in a roll-to-roll configuration. Xeikon will work either with its preferred finishing partners or with local Chinese suppliers, and the finishing unit will also be serviced by Xeikon.

After the Ecolyne press is launched commercially in China, it will be rolled out to other Asia-Pacific territories including India, Japan and SE Asia.

Printoly invests in Screen Truepress Jet

Printoly of Pompano Beach, Florida, has installed a Truepress Jet L350UV, now accounting for 100 percent of the company's label production, which was previously performed on wide-format technology.

Since the installation of the Truepress Jet L350UV in March 2025, the company's growth has increased from 5 percent to 20 percent month over month. Printoly, which got its start in 2023 printing signs, decals and labels using a wide-format press, now generates tens of thousands of labels per day and completes jobs within one to five days, with some customers receiving same-day service.

'The image quality that the L350UV produces looks stunning with smooth gradients, vivid prints and standout registration when compared to others,' said Dr Paul Jackson, co-president at Printoly. 'The color is vibrant and the contrast is exceptional. We've also been able to capture fine print as little as 1.6 pt.'

The CMYK+W inks configuration has allowed Printoly to create the appearance of special effects such as liquid, brushed steel and shimmer. 'I've mastered the color to the point where some of my customers were surprised when I told them that what they were looking at wasn't actually foil, but a metallic substrate,' added Dr Jackson.

Printoly runs a wide selection of BOPP stock, including white, metallic, silver, clear, holographic and specialty. The company also offers labels printed on semigloss, ivory, cream, estate paper, cardstock or pearlescent stock in a variety of shapes and sizes with adhesive that is either removable or permanent.

Dr Jackson valued the knowledge and training that Screen Americas provided before, during and after the installation. 'I usually get a call back within five to 30 minutes whenever I have an issue,' noted Dr Jackson. 'Plus, it's directly from a field technician or engineer who knows my press, so the problem is usually solved pretty quickly. There aren't any barriers to getting help from Screen.'

Printoly serves markets including food, beverage, medical, pharmaceutical, health, cosmetics, durables, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, cleaning, medical marijuana, pet and retail.

'Having experience in compounding, herbs and nutrition, I'm used to a pristine workplace,' explained Dr Jackson. 'Not only can I provide a higher level of professional insight to the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries, I can comfortably invite those partners into a welcoming facility for a hands-on approach to their label creation on the Truepress Jet L350UV.'

Screen Europe has concluded its Proven & Approved Inkjet Printing for Pharma Leaflets Open House, welcoming pharmaceutical printing and packaging professionals to its Inkjet Innovation Center in Amsterdam.

Attendees responded enthusiastically to live demonstrations, workflow tours and expert-led discussions focused on the performance requirements of pharmaceutical leaflet production.

Screen specialists presented the advanced capabilities of the Truepress JET systems, designed to ensure consistent and compliant output for patient-critical information. The demonstrations confirmed that Screen's SC+ inks deliver offset-equivalent text sharpness and optical density, ensuring small text meets readability requirements without impacting productivity.

Attendees were particularly impressed to learn that Screen digital presses can print on ultra-thin pharmaceutical papers already approved by major pharmaceutical companies, as well as affordable coated and offset coated papers, without requiring a primer.

Advanced workflow management and finishing systems support Screen's proprietary Equios software to ensure printing output remains consistent from the first sheet to the last while supporting more automation, freeing operators to complete more job orders while lowering waste and increasing production efficiency.

These digital printing innovations support growing initiatives within the pharmaceutical packaging sector to expand just-in-time production strategies, helping pharmaceutical converters improve overall supply-chain performance, reducing storage requirements, avoiding waste and improving sustainability initiatives as rapidly shifting regulations risk making large inventories suddenly unusable.

Faller Packaging is currently producing approximately 50 percent of all its leaflets using four Screen Truepress JET digital presses and expects that amount to increase with a fifth installation planned.

'Digital printing is no longer about fulfilling a particular niche in our leaflet production workflow. It is increasingly becoming our primary production method as we move forward,' Kutschera stated.

The event confirmed that pharmaceutical printers can rely on Screen inkjet to meet the evolving demands of leaflet production, including shorter runs, faster lead times, stricter regulatory expectations and increased product variations.
