Schobertechnologies has confirmed its participation at Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025. The company will promote technology for cutting and stacking of in-mold labels at the show.

Visitors are welcome to bring along samples, photos, drawings and specific projects to the booth.

The company will promote its rotary die-cutting and perforating module for processing multiple blisters in one sheet or as an individual package, made out of various materials, among all PVC and PET.

High-capacity rotary die-cutting module with high precision magnetic cylinder and quick lifting device, designed for web width up to 1000 mm and cylinder repeats up to 48in will also be featured.

Punching module with integrated slitter for the production of corner rounding for tea-tags and –bags will also be promoted at the show. The immediate length cut after punching enables a precise alignment of the punching profile.

Built-in and drop-in punching modules with new generation line hole punching tools and punch waste removal device designed to be integrated in almost every narrow web printing press will also be discussed.

Boyce brings with him over 14 years of extensive experience in the printing industry, with a strong background in sales and business development. British anilox manufacturer Sandon Global has reinforced its commitment to digital transformation with two key management appointments, positioning the company at the forefront of technological innovation in the flexographic printing industry.

Dr Vishal Kharka and Dr Muhammad Yasir Adnan have been appointed as process technical manager and business systems manager, respectively. Together, their roles will drive Sandon Global’s adoption of Industry 4.0 and emerging Industry 5.0 technologies, integrating advanced automation with human expertise and creativity.

Both appointments follow the successful completion of their Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects with The University of Manchester, in collaboration with Innovate UK, the UK’s national innovation agency.

Dr Kharka, now process technical manager, has a strong background in both industry and academia and began working with Sandon Global in 2023 as part of a KTP focused on shopfloor digitization and manufacturing process optimization. With a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and expertise in advanced manufacturing, digital machining, data capture technologies and Industry 4.0, he will lead automation and data-driven advancements in production.

‘I’m excited to be part of an amazing team, and I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to help drive innovation and operational excellence in this new role. Digitizing the shopfloor will enhance efficiency and make a real difference in manufacturing,’ commented Dr Kharka.

Dr Adnan, known as ‘Adi’ to colleagues, has been appointed business systems manager. He has worked with Sandon Global since 2022 as a smart data-driven business management engineer in a KTP that focused on business process analysis for industry 4.0 implementation and data capture and analysis from manufacturing machinery. Holding a Master’s in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science, he brings a wealth of expertise in business intelligence and data-driven manufacturing. His new role will lead Sandon Global’s digital transformation, focusing on automation, human-centric innovation, sustainability, and resilience.

Dr Adnan added: ‘I’m excited to share how our data-driven approach will transform manufacturing processes. By harnessing AI, ML, and IoT technologies, we’re integrating real-time data into every phase of production - enabling us to predict maintenance needs, minimise downtime, and elevate product quality. This strategic shift will drive operational efficiency and innovation, setting the stage for sustainable, agile growth in today’s fast-paced industrial environment.’

Maxcess has announced that Alexander Haid will step down from his position as vice president and general manager for Maxcess Europe, effective April 1, 2025. Succeeding Haid in the role of VP and general manager for Maxcess Europe will be Markus Rall, a seasoned leader with a 30-year career in the packaging and machine building industry, both in Germany and globally. Rall has held leading positions as CEO of Carton Group GmbH, Polar-Mohr Gruppe, and Man Roland AG. He brings a wealth of experience in managing complex organizations and driving growth in international markets.

The transition from Haid to Rall will begin on April 1, 2025, and will be completed within the next few months. Maxcess says it is confident that Rall will 'continue to build on the solid foundation Haid has established while leading the European organization into its next phase of success.'

MA Print Products (MAPP) has partnered with Wink to produce and deliver its Performance line flexible dies in the UK and Ireland, fully utilizing the benefits of flexible die-cutting for narrow web applications.

Earlier this year, Wink produced its Performance Flex die at its facility in Germany. The dies can cut a variety of label shapes and sizes, including kiss cutting, cut-through and other die-cutting processes, and can be used in semi- and full-rotary and flatbed systems. To minimize the transfer of adhesive and ink residues, the Performance Flex dies can be provided with MC or MCR coatings, laser hardened, or a non-stick coating.

The Performance Flex die range forms part of MAPP’s growing Performance Line portfolio of parts and consumables. These products are available to all converters and suitable for all equipment, regardless of manufacturer.

Globally, the flexible die market is projected to approach 200 million USD at the start of the next decade. This represents a strong CAGR of 6.8 percent. Flexible dies provide a number of benefits to label converters, from being lightweight and more affordable than solid dies, requiring less storage space, and being quicker to manufacture and dispatch, to suitability for a wide range of label materials and providing better economies of scale in a dynamic industry such as narrow web label converting. Astron upgrades post-press with a Rhyguan machine

Ahmedabad, India-based Astron Packaging has upgraded its post-press division by installing a new Rhyguan Top-330 multi-functional label die-cutting machine for IML from Flexo Image Graphics (FIG).

The new Rhyguan Top-330 at Astron is the third Rhyguan machine from FIG at the Ahmedabad facility. The facility is equipped with two Rhyguan Smart-330 inspection systems with Lustre cameras. FIG has also delivered a Rhyguan Top-330-Plus-2 semi-rotary flexo and die-cutting machine to Astron’s Dubai facility.

Gourav Roy, managing director of FIG, remarked: 'Astron has been one of our longstanding valued customers. We are proud to have partnered with them for years, and their repeated purchases of Rhyguan machines strongly suggest their trust, satisfaction, and loyalty to us. After all, it’s a positive testament to the quality and value of products and service we provide them.'

According to Roy, the new Rhyguan Top-330 is a good rotary die-cutting equipment for label converters who need productivity and versatility. It is an ideal entry-level solution for IML processing and production. Users can shift from full rotary to semi-rotary, providing quality die-cutting of film materials in small quantities.

Rhyguan Top-330 boasts advanced features and capabilities, such as a web width of 330mm. It can run at the maximum die-cutting speed of 110m/min in full rotary mode and at 60m/min in semi-rotary mode.

Niraj Darji, president of Astron Packaging, stated that the Rhyguan machine offers excellent precision and productivity. He further noted that all the Rhyguan machines they bought from FIG are cost-effective, easy to use, highly impactful, and efficient in finishing and converting.

Astron's client base includes cold chain suppliers, pharmaceutical, and FMCG companies. The company opened its labeling and folding carton unit in 2008 and keeps upgrading with regular installations of cutting-edge machines and equipment like the Rhyguan Top-330, Mark Andy narrow web flexo printing press, Rotoflex slitter rewinder, and Presstek digital offset printing press from FIG.
