MAPP to support folding carton industry at Labelexpo Europe

MA Print Products (MAPP), a supplier of equipment, parts and consumables to the global print industry, is reiterating its support for folding carton manufacturers, following the expansion of Labelexpo to formally embrace that segment of the packaging industry.

Through its private-brand Performance Line series of equipment, parts and consumables, MAPP has established a portfolio of products that are suited to folding carton production. This includes technology for job preparation, printing, curing, tooling, cleaning and maintenance, complementing similar solutions for label and flexible packaging production.

Andy Clarke, European operations director, MA Print Products, commented: 'From our VPM plate mounting systems and strategic global partnership with tesa tapes, to the anilox rollers, doctor blades and replacement UV bulbs we provide, these solutions empower converters to embrace all the opportunities that are presented to them.

'Having access to a reliable and reputable source of equipment, parts and consumables is critically important. Printers rely on these products to keep their equipment operational and producing high-quality work, all day every day. This is especially true for those printers that are diversifying their product mix and embracing a one-stop-shop mentality, or are part of a larger group structure.

'Presses today are highly capable and able to handle shrink sleeves, thin and unsupported films, and lightweight cartonboard. However, without the right source of equipment, parts and consumables, their potential is severely limited.

MA Print Products will exhibit at Labelexpo Europe 2025 at stand 4E05.

Labelexpo Europe 2025 takes place September 16-19 in Barcelona, Spain.

While cartons are not new to the Labelexpo mix, they have played second fiddle to flexible packaging in recent years, as a packaging segment that label printers have actively embraced as a new revenue stream. Nonetheless, cartons have been present at Labelexpo shows globally for a number of years and are showcased by press manufacturers, finishing equipment vendors and material suppliers alike.

The formal introduction of folding carton technology at Labelexpo Europe 2025 is the continuation of the natural evolution of the industry and the historically narrow web print show format to embrace the wider world of package printing.

Clarke added: 'We already support many converters with their work to print folding cartons and can’t wait to meet with them and many others when the doors open to Labelexpo Europe 2025.

Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025 consolidated its position as the region’s largest label and package printing event with 40 percent growth, bolstered by 195 suppliers in attendance. The number is a record for the event, which included many international suppliers who were exhibiting for the first time, such as Jet Technologies, Lintec, Cosmo Films, Xsys and Lemorau.

Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025 featured more working machinery than previous editions, with equipment from across the label and packaging value chain, including digital and flexographic printing equipment and automated finishing technology.

Nilpeter showcased the FA-17 flexo press, featuring advanced automation that helps reduce setup times and enhance overall production efficiency. The press can print on a variety of substrates across self-adhesive labels and flexible packaging. Domino featured the enhanced N730i digital press, which now boasts an increased maximum print speed of up to 90 m/min. At the Nilpeter stand, Domino also presented its K300 monochrome printer alongside vision inspection from Lake Image Systems, a Domino Group company. Weigang introduced the ZX320G intermittent label offset press designed for high-end label production.

First-time exhibitor Jet Technologies showcased the Omet iFlex press in a 10-color configuration featuring servo-assisted pre-register and register setting devices, quick machine setup (1-2 minutes for 10 flexo units) and rapid job changeover capabilities. The company also debuted its JetiQ brand of finishing equipment developed with Polly Automatics, featuring semi-rotary flexo stations, flat-bed die-cutting and the Versatex Digital Print Bar, designed for digital varnish and high-build varnish applications.

Press Systems showcased innovations from leading global brands for label, flexible packaging and specialty applications, including GEW, Asahi Photoproducts, DYM, Rhyguan, Zeller+Gmelin, Sandon Global and Troika Systems.

Portuguese manufacturer Lemorau showcased two advanced converting technologies: the Smart-L Premium die-cutting machine for pre-printed labels with flexo station and dual die-cutting modes, and the ICR4 high-speed finishing system running at up to 400 m/min.

Susana Teixeira, chief financial officer at Lemorau, commented on the quality of the 6,019 visitors from 70 countries attending the show on May 8-10 May at the International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). 'Over the three days of the exhibition, we welcomed numerous professionals from various countries, each with different needs and expectations. The response was very positive, with particular interest in the technological solutions presented. The support from the organizers during dismantling and packing was crucial to successfully conclude this operation. We returned from Thailand motivated, with a sense of mission accomplished and a clear reinforcement of Lemorau's presence in the Asian region,' she said.

The Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025 'Spotlight on Sustainability' feature addressed growing consumer and legislative demands for environmental responsibility. Participants in the feature included Armor-IIMAK introducing thermal transfer ribbons that reduce waste by 12 percent, Cosmo Films supporting the circular economy through synthetic paper and green graphic films, and K Laser showcasing its 100 percent recyclable Eco-Paperboard and rPET-based transfer films. Kurz emphasized recyclable and compostable decorative products, while Lintec presenting recyclable mono-materials that enhance recycling efficiency. Lundberg's label matrix waste handling system demonstrated practical solutions for reducing virgin material waste and CO2 emissions.

Materials in Works (MIW) focused on reducing raw materials usage and carbon footprint. Thai KK Group specializes in rPET labels with up to 100 percent post-consumer recycled content and sustainable food packaging solutions, and Yupo's CleanSort labels enable efficient recycling by removing contaminants during the recycling process.

Richard Quirk, event manager at Labelexpo Southeast Asia, said: 'Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025’s remarkable 40 percent growth, hosting 195 of the world's leading manufacturers, had the show floor filled with machinery demonstrations, from advanced digital and hybrid presses to innovative finishing solutions. What's particularly encouraging is the strong focus on sustainability, with numerous exhibitors showcasing eco-friendly materials and processes. Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025 truly reflected the dynamic growth of the label and package printing industry and reinforces our position as the region's premier industry platform."
