Avery Dennison RFID has been selected by Metro Group, one of the world’s largest retailers, to provide RFID inlays for its inventory control and pallet level tracking RFID system in its distribution center in Germany. The AD-843 is one of several new UHF inlays recently developed by Avery Dennison RFID for use across retail and supply chain applications.

‘Avery Dennison’s AD-843 proved an excellent performance for mixed and difficult pallet contents that made it a natural choice for our RFID based supply chain operations,’ said Dr Gerd Wolfram, head of CIO-Office, Metro Group. ‘It shows its capabilities when it is needed most. Using the AD-843 increased our read accuracy to a reliable record level of consistently well over 99 percent during our deployment.’

Metro Group initially chose the AD-843 inlay for pallet level tagging, and is evaluating expansion of the deployment to other product applications.

‘We were pleased to be selected by Metro Group to provide this RFID technology,’ said Jack Farrell, vice president and general manager of Avery Dennison’s RFID division. ‘Metro Group represents a retailer that is leveraging RFID technology to realize significant operational efficiencies and cost savings, and Avery Dennison RFID is glad to be able to support that effort through our products and testing services.’
