Lintec launches low-migration label stock

Lintec’s low-migration labelstock is designed to combat migration issues in low-barrier plastic containers, particularly in pharmaceutical applications.

Tatsuya Tsukida, of Lintec, explained the new product during a press conference at the show: ‘This is a revolutionary product for those who are confronting the migration problem with a plastic container.’

The labelstocks come in 38-micron polyester film in both white and clear. The product has passed both European and Japanese legislation for low-migration.

Lintec views low migration as a top trend and expects demand for low-migration labelstocks to increase in medical and pharmaceutical industries as these fields move from high-barrier glass bottles to plastic containers.

At Lablexpo Europe, Lintec also showcased three additional new products: an adhesive designed for ‘extreme adhesion to rough surfaces’; laser-markable labelstocks; and 3D conformable labelstocks. In 2015, Lintec launched an easy to remove bubble-free label stock for which it was nominated for a 2017 Label Industry Global Award.

It’s the Japanese company’s second showing at Labelexpo Europe. Lintec CEO Hiroyuki Nishio said that the company will leverage its 2016 acquisition of Mactac Americas to promote its products to the North American market and ‘in order to establish a foothold for commercial expansion,' in US as well as in Europe.
