Schober to display rotary die-cutting and RFID technology at Labelexpo

Schober will feature rotary die-cutting and RFID technology on stand 11R70 at Labelexpo Europe. Technologies on display will focus on the production of in-mold labels including the RSM 520-MSV machine for the rotary die-cutting of labels at high speed. The technology unwinds label rolls, die-cuts labels, counts, stacks and delivers labels, and rewinds waste matrix under tension control. Three different stacking devices are included: M stack for very shorts runs, S stack for long runs and V stack for very large products – making the RSM 520-MSV suitable for a variety of in-mold labeling applications.
Schober will also show its RFID-CP, pictured, for medium and small label runs using pre-printed heavy labelstock. This new technology inserts UHF and HF inlays under die-cut blank or pre-printed labels and validates the finished product. Control and monitoring is accomplished through the new pendant station which houses an industrial PC. Additional features include a new tag dispenser with web tension relief, strategically placed start/stop buttons, greater information gathering capabilities, and optional static discharge protection. Pre-printed labels with widths from 101.6 mm to 203.6 mm can be applied at rates from 5,000 to 20,000 labels per hour. An on-board RFID reader ensures the readability of each RFID tag after integration. An automatic control system keeps transponders and printed labels in register.
Also on display will be the RFID-TI Combi, which is designed to insert/apply wet and dry RIFD inlays in registration at high speed onto a continuously driven release liner. A dual reader verifies the transponder or finished RFID labels to ensure total production monitoring with a zero scrap rate.
