Flint and Digital Flex extend relationship
Italian pre-press company Digital Flex has invested in Flint Group’s nyloflex system as it looks to gain a competitive advantage.

Digital Flex and Flint have worked together for nearly two decades, via the supplier’s Italian distributor Macchingraf. Digital Flex was established in 1997 as a subsidiary of Nuova Roveco, itself established in the 1960s as the first and only pre-press company in Italy completely dedicated to flexography. At that time, it produced zinc and magnesium matrices as well as vulcanized rubber plates, although changed vulcanized rubber to photopolymer printing plates in 1987. The group continuously grew and quickly became one of the largest purchasers of photopolymer printing plates in Europe.
Digital Flex was the first enterprise in Italy to install a flexo CtP system to produce digital printing plates.
It also offers customer training via the Digital Flex Academy, providing information on modern and sophisticated technologies.
It introduced HD Flexo in 2010, and then acquired a nyloflex NExT exposure unit. Digital Flex also purchases nyloflex ACE Digital printing plates, amongst other Flint Group products, through Macchingraf.
Andrea Vergnano, one of the owners and production director of Digital Flex, said: ‘Our company has been very innovative and is always looking ahead. However, we have realized that our competitors have been growing in terms of quality and with up-to-date technologies in the past months.
‘Nowadays, companies that are able to invest can reach a competitive advantage by investing in the proper technologies. We decided to install a nyloflex NExT exposure unit to keep our competitive edge by offering something different to the market.
‘We have in fact invested in three new CtP units and the nyloflex NExT exposure unit to further fulfill the market needs in terms of quality and to enlarge our offer.’
