Photo-initiator Cata102 is intended for use with Silcolease UV Poly110/RCA170 release chemistry for coating onto a broad selection of paper and film substrates. The company says its provides rapid and efficient curing and excellent anchorage to substrate, resulting in stable release performance against a wide range of adhesive materials. In addition, Cata102 shows good compatibility with the Poly110 system.

The cationic UV system Cata243 was developed specially for special applications with improved odor properties and high efficiency curing.

Special additives including ADD151, ADD152 for UV curing systems were introduced at the company’s 2013 Label & Tape seminar.

Ian Zhang, Asia lab manager for Bluestar Silicones, introduced technology for PEK release liner, which dominates the Chinese release liner market. To adapt to different substrates and diverse coating processes, PEK release liner is required to be stable and with a tailor-made release force.

Bluestar Silicones is a subsidiary of China National Bluestar Corp and has production bases in China, North America and Europe, of which Xinghuo in China and Lyon in France are the more important. The company’s Silcolease range covers all technologies used in silicone release coatings including solventless thermal, solventless radiation, emulsion, solvent and PSA. The company employs 3,000 people throughout the world with a turnover around €600 million.
