Package printing makes its presence felt at label show
- Xeikon and Esko present package printing workflow to label converters looking for new business opportunities

- Nine workshop sessions well attended

A series of Package Printing Workshops were well received at last week’s Labelexpo Americas 2012, the first time the feature has been presented to the North American market.

The Package Printing Workshop feature area, organized in association with Package Print Worldwide, followed the Package Printing Zone that was featured as part of Labelexpo Europe 2011 and is set to return in 2013.

Digital press manufacturer Xeikon and Esko, a pre-press and artwork origination specialist, presented three workflow scenarios for the production of folding cartons, plastic buckets and high-quality tubes.

These addressed the individual needs during the design process using Esko’s software tools, such as WebCenter, DeskPack and Store Visualizer, before the baton was passed to Xeikon, who had a 3000 Series digital press (pictured, above) operating in the feature area to produce cartons, in-mold labels and heat transfer decoration for the three applications.

Nine workshop sessions were staged in total, three on each day of the three-day show.

Labelexpo success
The Package Printing Workshop feature area formed part of a highly successful Labelexpo Americas 2012, with attendance up by a double figure amount at more than 14,000.

Package printing was also part of a well-received conference program, which featured talks by the likes of Landa and involvement from WS Packaging in discussions.
