Cyngient launches Nestlé-compliant UV flexo coating
Cyngient, a full-service provider of inks, coatings and adhesives for the print and packaging industries, announced the launch of PUREmatte, a virtually odorless UV-LED matte overprint coating for flexographic printers. Curing to an extremely low odor, PUREmatte is suited for printers and converters of shrink films and pressure sensitive labels, as well as flexible packaging and folding carton applications.

PUREmatte offers flexibility for shrink sleeves and prime labels while being benzo-free and featuring abrasion resistance. These properties make PUREmatte appealing to brand owners in the beverage, pharmaceutical, health and beauty, and other end-use segments with stringent demands for low-odor packaging. PUREmatte is also an eco-friendly product manufactured with lower migration materials. It is Nestlé- compliant and complies with California Proposition 65.
Andrew Wasserman, managing partner at Cyngient, said, ‘This is truly a game-changing technology for the shrink sleeve, beverage, pharmaceutical, and health and beauty markets, to name just a few. PUREmatte is truly revolutionary – there’s virtually no odor whatsoever. This means brand owners in the craft beer market, for example, can capitalize on the branding benefits provided by shrink sleeve’s 360-degree real estate without odor interfering with product smell and taste. Early converter adopters of PUREmatte are totally shocked, and their customers couldn’t be happier. It’s very exciting.’
Wasserman also commented on the shelf appeal possible with PUREmatte: ‘Anyone marketing products in the luxury segment will appreciate PUREmatte’s organic, silky feel and high contrast look. It can even have a 3D effect – labels and packaging manufactured with PUREmatte really stand out – this is no ordinary coating.’
In addition to shrink sleeves and pressure sensitive labels, PUREmatte is also fit for printers and converters of PET, OPP/BOPP films, paper, tag stock, pouches, carton board and cosmetic web films. PUREmatte is also scuff-resistant, which helps minimize cracking.
Wasserman added, ‘Our goal at Cyngient is to raise the bar and elevate innovation, and PUREmatte does just that. We want to partner with small and medium-sized printers so they can offer their customers premium, high performance products that will have them competing with the biggest players. PUREmatte is both user and application-friendly and is very competitively-priced.’
Cyngient has recently doubled its capacity at its Fairfield, NJ headquarters and offers next-day service. The company is offering PUREmatte samples and is encouraging trials at no charge.
