Package printing part of record-breaking label show

Labelexpo Europe 2011, the leading international tradeshow for the label, product decoration, web printing and converting industry, debuted a dedicated Package Printing Zone as it smashed numerous records with its latest edition. 
 
The Package Printing Zone was held in conjunction with Package Print Worldwide (PPW), and took over a large portion of Hall 12 during the four-day show, held in Brussels, Belgium at the end of September.
 
Labelexpo Europe 2011 attracted 28,636 visitors from 118 countries, an increase of 18.6 per cent over 2009’s show. Labelexpo Europe also attracted 550 exhibitors, up from 544 in 2009, and occupied six exhibition halls at Brussels Expo, making it the largest in its 30-year history.
 
The Package Printing Zone feature included presentations from numerous names with interests in package printing applications, such as Heidelberg, Müller Martini, Omet, EskoArtwork and Avery Dennison. Xeikon also presented, as well as having a 3050 digital press running in the zone.

Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘As a major new feature area for Labelexpo Europe 2011, the Package Printing Zone was promoted as a must-attend for label and packaging printers alike. As the industry moves towards shorter runs and more personalization across brands, it is necessary that printers look at new ways of maximizing opportunities for their narrow and mid web presses and their business beyond the label.
 
‘The live printing demonstrations and seminar program looked at the latest trends and technologies in the sector and proved to be a big draw for visitors to the show and exhibitors. A fast growing market, despite the general economic climate, it is imperative that we offer converters the chance to find out more about ways they can drive costs down, increase profitability and add value to their customers.’

Labelexpo and the Package Printing Zone coincided with the publication of the first printed edition of PPW and the launch of a Digital PackPrint Summit, to be staged as part of a summit series that includes PackPrint Dubai 2012 and PackPrint Miami 2013.
