Avery Dennison to unveil adhesive breakthrough

Avery Dennison launches what it describes as a ‘game-changing’ adhesive at Labelexpo Europe 2019 on stand 5A31.

Avery Dennison’s Cold Chain Adhesive can be applied at temperatures as low as -50 deg C

The new development, more on which will be revealed at the show, is among a number of new products launched at the ‘World of Science’ section of the company’s stand.

‘Thanks to the company’s long-term commitment and investment in materials science and R&D, we look forward to introducing to market, what we believe, will be a game-changing adhesive solution,’ said Jeroen Diderich, vice president and general manager, Label and Graphic Materials Europe. More on this innovation will be revealed at the show.

“The ‘World of Science’ is where you can come and meet our leading R&D pioneers and technical experts and learn about our new material solutions and the next Avery Dennison breakthrough product technology that will be launched at the show,’ said Diderich. In all, there will be four worlds of discovery: Sustainable World, Connected World and a World of Imagination.

The World of Science will feature innovations designed to expand business opportunities for converters, including:

  • Automotive Portfolio – offering a complete and OEM-approved range of products covering key industry trends such as electric vehicles and light weighting, all with low minimum order quantity and fast turnaround.
  • Cold Chain Adhesive – featuring Avery Dennison’s industry-first adhesive that can be applied at temperatures as low as -50 deg C, and that holds fast, down to -196 deg C. It protects the quality of pharmaceuticals and human tissue by reducing the need for temperature excursions, while reducing loss and margin for error by ensuring identifying labels stay attached.
  • Luminescent Topcoat – a topcoat for pharma labels which UV-detectable luminescence with any Avery Dennison adhesives or film facestocks for delivering easier detection on all substrates by choosing blue, red or yellow. Converters can purchase luminescent topcoated films with any adhesive or facestock and avoid the complexity of adding varnish on-press. This breakthrough topcoat also enables on-label brand security.

These innovations, and the others to be featured by Avery Dennison, are designed to drive growth for label converters, while at the same time meeting qualifications in the pharma and automotive industries and compliance with the latest EU legislation.

‘As competition continues to increase, our materials will deliver new business opportunities and a healthy bottom line for customers,’ Diderich said.
