Schreiner MediPharm launches the Digital Display Label
A major benefit of the new label is the possibility of updating label information digitally and in real-time.

Schreiner MediPharm has launched Digital Display Label, a pioneering label for digitalizing investigational drugs in clinical trials. This innovative technology can replace conventional labels with electronic ones and replace them with digital displays. This would eliminate the need for time-consuming manual relabeling, enable significant process optimization during clinical trials, and help shorten the time to market.
Clinical trials entail exacting requirements: Flexibility, speed, and precision are crucial, and conventional labels with static information soon reach their limits. Changes to protocol numbers, patient groups, or expiration dates, as well as regulatory modifications, require manual relabeling of the investigational drugs in many countries, which causes delays and costs.
The new digital label from SMP remedies this situation: It is based on a modular, reusable plastic housing, reliably protecting sensitive display electronics. A carefully conceived adapter system ensures ease of application to various packaging forms–be it flat blister wallets and kit boxes or round containers like plastic bottles and vials. Additional features such as light protection or blinding can be integrated with transparent containers.
A major benefit of the new product from Schreiner MediPharm is the possibility of updating label information digitally and in real-time. As a result, patients and clinical staff always receive current information about the investigational drug–without delays and without any additional investment of materials and logistic effort. That enhances patient safety and minimizes the risk of discontinuing clinical trials due to incorrect or obsolete markings.
In terms of sustainability, the new label is quite compelling: both the housing and the adapter system are reusable, which conserves resources and avoids waste. The modular design enables integration into existing standard packaging without requiring modifications. At the same time, the system ensures a reliable connection between the Digital Display Label and the primary container or packaging.
In total, the Digital Display Label enhances efficiency in clinical trial logistics. It accelerates the entire trial process while offering research-based pharmaceutical companies significant savings potential and higher patient compliance–a crucial move toward modern, digital clinical trial procedures.
