Westpak, a Finnish manufacturer of high quality flexo printed packaging, has been awarded Europe’s first extended gamut printing (EGP) partnership certificate by Marvaco

Westpak is claimed to be the first Nordic printing company to have successfully adopt EGP, in 2015, and now offers customers WestTone color control services in packaging artwork production, developed in partnership with Marvaco, a flexo plate producer and pre-press production specialist which processes annually around 28,000 packaging artworks with 90 professionals in Finland and Sweden. Westpak and Marvaco have also created an expanded color gamut chart for plastic materials, Westpak Multicolor Target Book.

The certificate recognizes the company’s successful implementation of a modern production process. The certificate is awarded by Marvaco for high quality and excellent process efficiency of prints done in the past two years, and verifies that packaging printing implemented with the EGP technology has been ‘excellent, batch after batch’.

Marvaco said its introduction of an expanded color gamut process to packaging printing, implemented by the company and its American partner company, CSW, has now advanced to the stage of awarding partnership certificates to printing companies. Printing companies’ adoption of EGP technology and performance are tested and evaluated based on production works on various brand owners’ packages, implemented with EGP process inks.
