Carrington chooses NatureFlex for packaging differentiation

Carrington Tea is using Innovia Films’ bio-based NatureFlex packaging films for its Organics range as it targets differentiation on the shelf through a packaging format rarely seen in the US.

NatureFlex is derived from wood pulp sourced from managed plantations and is certified to be over 90 percent bio-based, and home and industrial compostable. 

The new Carrington Organics tea line is offered in three flavors including two herbal versions – Chamomile and Soothing Herbal – and Green Tea Lemon. 

The Carrington Organics range contains 20 tea bags per package and is available for purchase at select grocery stores and online.  All Carrington Organics tea products are organic-certified and packed in the US.

Carrington Organics teas are now being packaged in a 20-bag retail-ready ‘soft pack’, developed in conjunction with Fastik Label and Supply. This packaging format is commonly used in Europe for economy-sized packaging, however is rarely seen in North America where cartons and tins are the normal packaging format, according to the partners involved in this application.

Fastik Label and Supply is a food-safe converter and printer of many types of packaging, including compostable packaging for tea and other dry-goods. It supplies tea packaging across North America, and specializes in assisting companies to launch new tea programs.

Technical benefits of NatureFlex for Carrington Tea include high barriers to oxygen and moisture that ensure product freshness.
