Conference launched to address Middle East pack print market

- PPW to support event addressing region's trends and technologies

- Two-day conference supported by table-top exhibition to take place in Dubai on November 6-7

Package Print Worldwide and Labels & Labeling parent Tarsus is hosting a new conference event in Dubai this November, focused on trends and technologies in the Middle East package printing market.

Packprint Summit Middle East will take place at the Al Bustan Rotana in Dubai on November 6-7. Supported by Package Print Worldwide and with Kodak acting as Gold sponsor, the event focuses entirely on the package printing industry.

Aimed at brand owners and package printers/converters, the summit comprises a two-day conference program and table-top exhibition and is designed to deliver an educational and practical platform for delegates to learn about current trends and technologies, as well as provide a valuable networking opportunity.

The design and printing of flexible packaging, cartons, pouches, sachets, blister packs, wrappers, labels, sleeves, bags and sacks are amongst some of the fastest growing and dynamic sectors of the printing industry. Innovative, creative, technically demanding and environmentally aware, package printing is a global business and a complex one through its use of presses, materials and print finishes.

Phenomenal growth

Roger Pellow, Tarsus labels and package printing division managing director, said: ‘Despite worries about the current economic climate, the package printing/product decoration industry is booming.

‘More and more converters are wisely seeing the opportunity to grow in this fast changing part of printing with short runs increasing and demand for more variations and versions ever intensifying. For instance, the print market in the Middle East and North Africa is growing at a phenomenal rate and alone has an estimated growth of 42 percent to $11 billion by 2015.

‘With such innovation and healthy growth in the global marketplace, it is important that we open this sector up to new audiences to demonstrate and share ways they can drive costs down, increase profitability and add value to their customers.’

Komal Sharma, managing director and vice president of sales for Kodak MEAF & Turkey region, said: ‘Packaging is one of the core areas of expertise at Kodak. Kodak solutions can help brand owners and retailers with stunning high shelf impact packaging while preserving brand equity, security and driving efficiency from design through print production.’
