Pre-press specialist FFEI sees Drupa as a trend-setting show, with a four-year cycle key to being able to announce revolutions and breakthrough technologies at the “Olympics of the printing industry”.

The most recent Drupa, in May 2012, featured a number of new technologies and innovations, including the launch of Benny Landa’s Nanographic Printing process and the first presentation of Highcon’s digital cutting and creasing solution for folding carton production.

With the announcement that Drupa will maintain its four-year cycle, Andy Cook, managing director at FFEI, said: ‘We support maintaining the four-year cycle.

‘For us, Drupa is about setting the trends for the future, and announcing revolutions and breakthrough technologies – that's what makes it exciting and worthwhile.

‘Reducing the cycle time could dilute this and reduce the interest and attention the show gets. It would be a great shame to see Drupa diluted in this way.

‘As for moving to an 11-day show, this will help costs and provide a bit more focus, so of course this is a good move. We’re glad the organizers continue to gauge the opinions and views of those attending and we very much look forward to 2016.’
