Cast and cure, Adobe PDF automation and variable foil among Nashville program highlights.

The Foil and Specialty Effects Association has confirmed four embellishment innovation Q&A sessions as part of the program for its Print Embellishment Conference, taking place 17-19 June in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tim Cain of Breit Technologies will present on cast and cure, covering how the process creates gloss, matte and holographic effects across printed materials with a sustainable approach. Mike Scrutton of Adobe will introduce Project Goldsmith, the company's PDF automation platform for embellishment production workflows. Mark Kempster of Unifoil and Mark Geeves of Color-Logic will present a session on metallic and holographic substrates with digital print, featuring a collaboration with comic book artist Greg Horn demonstrating white and CMYK inks combined with metallic and holographic substrates. Eddie Davin of bigDAWGS will close with a session on variable finish printing, covering raised UV, foil, NFC integration and a customized video brochure merging embellishments with an auto-playing LCD screen.

The conference also includes a plant tour of BindTech's finishing and bookbinding facility in Nashville, a Supplier Trade Fair and the 33rd annual FSEA Gold Leaf Awards.
