Label Power installs Australia's first Omet KFlex 530
Queensland company expands capacity with 530mm narrow-web flexo press.

Label Power has installed the first Omet KFlex 530 narrow-web flexographic press in Australia, sourced through Currie Group, following inspiration from Labelexpo Europe.
The Brisbane-based company, which operates production facilities in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, specializes in custom label printing, barcode technologies and associated tools for customers across the country. The investment marks a strategic move to expand capacity for longer-run, high-volume jobs.
Label Power founder and CEO James Malone attended the Brussels trade show before conducting further research on available options, including a visit to Omet in Lecco, Italy, for demonstrations of the technology.
'The demonstrations of the new Omet KFlex 530 were very impressive and, after further discussions with the team at Currie Group, we were soon convinced that it would be the perfect strategic investment to support our existing press line-up and allow us to diversify further in future,' recalled Malone.
The company previously operated narrow-web flexographic machines with 250mm, 330mm and 430mm widths. The new Omet KFlex 530, with its 530mm web width, enables production of larger label sizes and increased volumes by fitting additional rows of labels onto the web.
Installed last year, the press features Omet's Switch system, which allows adaptation of the press configuration for specific job requirements. Additional flexibility comes through modules for energy-efficient GEW water-cooled UV LED curing, delamination and relamination, and die cutting stations.
'Importantly, this productivity and flexibility doesn't come at the cost of quality,' added Malone. 'Our customers require the highest standards, always, and the KFlex, with its automated registration, precision print and options like GEW low-energy UV curing, enables us to meet even the most exacting requirements, while keeping a lid on costs.'
