Canon brings labels and folding carton technology to Labelexpo Europe

Visitors can see newly developed UVgel Factory for labels, the Edale CartonLine and a virtual demonstration of the LabelStream LS2000.

Canon is showcasing a selection of technologies for label printing and folding carton, including the newly developed UVgel Factory for Labels, the Edale CartonLine and a virtual demonstration of the LabelStream LS2000, at its stand 4E07 at Labelexpo Europe 2025.

The company is highlighting how it can support converters and print providers to respond to customer demands, achieve high productivity, enhance their sustainability efforts and elevate their label and packaging production.

Based on Canon Qualinx technologies, the LabelStream LS2000 is Canon’s first water-based, five-color (CMYK plus white) inkjet digital label press. Designed for production at speeds of up to 40m/min with a maximum printing width of 340mm, it is suitable for label converters looking for a reliable, sustainable, productive and easy-to-operate digital press.

Suitable for a wide range of applications, including labels used on the exterior of food packaging and everyday items such as food and beverages, personal care, household goods and electronics, the LabelStream LS2000 inks are compliant with several food safety standards. The dedicated virtual LabelStream experience features video content, expert presentations, and a range of samples produced on the LabelStream LS2000, printed on materials commonly used for label printing in Europe.

For the first time, Canon is showcasing the newly developed UVgel Factory for labels. Developed in partnership with Canon’s finishing partners, the technology comprises Canon’s Colorado M-series, the Fotoba Jumbo Roll JRL 17 and a Colex flatbed cutting table. Producing high-quality, customized labels that don’t require lamination, the UVgel Factory for labels can also provide a premium look to each label, with its unique FLXfinish+ technology, which can combine matte and gloss effects on the same print. Similarly, its FLXture technology can give each label a textured feel, giving retail products, for example, a premium effect to stand out from competitors on the shelf. Throughout the event, visitors can see the automated roll printing and digital finishing of an array of applications on this solution, including cut-through and kiss-cut self-adhesives and labels.

Also on display is the Edale CartonLine, a single-pass flexographic carton production line that offers high-quality printing, multiple in-line embellishments and in-line flatbed finishing. With this production line, Edale, a Canon company and a manufacturer of flexographic printing and converting technology, is demonstrating how flexo can streamline existing carton production processes by reducing high labor costs, minimizing work-in-progress and freeing up valuable factory space to unlock new revenue opportunities and enable more efficient operations.

With a variety of samples, including labels, corrugated and folding carton applications, Canon is highlighting the capabilities of both its products on stand and its wider portfolio of digital presses.

Looking ahead to the event, Edoardo Cotichini, senior manager of marketing and innovation for labels and packaging at Canon EMEA commented: 'We’re excited to be exhibiting at Labelexpo Europe for the first time since 2021 and highlighting our commitment to the label and packaging markets by setting out the foundation of our label and packaging proposition as first announced at drupa last year. Our goal is to use our expertise in commercial and industrial print to deliver a comprehensive ecosystem of presses, solutions and services that allows converters to gain a competitive advantage by differentiating their business, to elevate packaging and label production to the next level and to create new sources of value for brand owners and end users. We look forward to displaying our range of innovative technologies at Labelexpo Europe and demonstrating how, as a trusted partner to label and packaging converters, our team of industry experts can support them to achieve long-term business success.'
