Identiv expands NFC anti-tamper tag portfolio
New ID-Safe range targets authentication and traceability across pharma, retail and packaging.
Identiv has expanded its ID-Safe product family, a portfolio of HF and NFC tags combining product authentication, tamper detection and secure traceability for pharmaceutical, healthcare, retail, food and beverage, electronics and smart packaging applications.
The expanded range includes tamper-evident NFC labels that detect and record package opening events, tamper-proof tags with destructible antennas that prevent removal or reuse, and configurations supporting encrypted authentication to protect against cloning and counterfeiting. Each tag is encoded with a unique identity and can be linked to cloud-based systems to create a digital twin of the product, enabling stakeholders to verify authenticity and confirm package integrity at any point in the supply chain using standard NFC-enabled smartphones or readers.
When a package is opened or tampered with, the tag registers an irreversible state change such as a broken antenna or altered electrical signal, providing clear evidence of interference. The portfolio is designed to address counterfeiting, gray market diversion, warranty abuse and product refilling fraud.
The ID-Safe tags are already deployed in an NFC-based anti-counterfeiting smart packaging application for luxury wine producers, developed in collaboration with ZATAP and Genuine-Analytics.
'Trust in physical products can't be assumed anymore, it has to be verified,' said Andreas Walsner, global vice president of sales at Identiv. 'ID-Safe allows organizations to detect interference, prevent fraud and establish trusted product identity anywhere it matters, from manufacturing through distribution to the point of use.'
