GMerix and Elite Cameron partner on UV hot melt

New production line enables pilot and commercial-scale UV hot melt adhesive development.

GMerix, a specialist in advanced coating and toll coating services, has announced a partnership with Elite Cameron, a provider of coating and laminating equipment, to integrate UV hot melt coating technology into the GMerix production platform for the pressure-sensitive and specialty materials market.

The new line combines GMerix's application expertise with Elite Cameron's coating technology and is designed to serve as a shared resource for UV hot melt adhesive manufacturers and label converters, enabling product validation and optimization on a production-scale coating line before commercialization or capital investment in new equipment. The system includes in-line real-time UV dose measurement for precise curing control and consistent, repeatable results.

The partnership targets label converters exploring UV hot melt technology as an alternative to conventional adhesive systems or as a more sustainable replacement for solvent-based systems, as well as adhesive manufacturers seeking to validate formulations at scale before commercial launch.

'This UV curing system, integrated with in-line real-time UV dose measurement, ensures precise curing control and delivers consistent, repeatable results,' said Ali Rabea, director of product development and operations at GMerix. 'It enables label converters to explore UV hot melt technology as an alternative to conventional adhesive systems and as a more sustainable alternative to solvent-based systems without compromising performance.'

'We're seeing growth in the UV acrylic hot melt space, and with GMerix's knowledgeable team, we'll be able to use this machine to help take a concept and prove its merit in a controlled environment,' added Rob McNamee, vice president of sales and operations at Elite Cameron.
