Lecta goes PFAS-free across portfolio
Lecta has eliminated PFAS from its entire range of packaging paper ahead of the incoming EU regulation.
Lecta has confirmed that its full packaging portfolio is now produced without added PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), establishing a company-wide global standard following a review of formulations, raw material selection and supply chain controls.
The commitment covers the company's complete packaging range, including flexible and rigid packaging, self-adhesive materials, labels and bags. As a result, the 'No PFAS Added' designation will no longer appear in individual product names, as all Lecta packaging paper ranges now meet the standard by default.
As part of the transition, Lecta has introduced new grease-resistant papers across its Creaset, Metalvac and Adestor ranges, developed as replacements for conventional greaseproof papers used in food and food service applications.
The move is aligned with the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which comes into effect on August 12, 2026, and introduces a ban on PFAS in packaging under its restricted substances framework. Similar regulatory momentum is also building in markets outside the EU.
