Packaging is the face of the brand, but print is the voice of the product on the shelf.  It effects how well it’s seen, heard and can be the defining point of differentiation between deal or no deal.

Speaking for the event organisers, Matt Benyon commented: ‘Refreshing a brand’s on-pack messaging can enhance a product’s selling ability and with more and more consumers looking for that eco-message, it is one zone that retail marketers should not miss at the expo.  They will see how customized communication is so easily achieved with a click of a button.’

Hewlett- Packard (HP) will be showcasing a diverse range of innovative applications, printed on the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press and the HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press. Used by many of the world's leading converters to produce labels and packaging for blue-chip companies, HP Indigo digital presses print on a broad range of substrates, including flexible packaging, shrink sleeves, folding cartons and a wide variety of label stocks.

Julia Cole of HP commented:‘With the new HP ElectroInk White, the industry's first white ink for sheetfed digital presses, HP Indigo 7500 and WS6000 Digital Press users can print full-color images on transparent, colored or other substrates, further expanding the variety of products within their portfolios.  Both presses feature a wide color gamut, with 4, 6 or 7 color PANTONE® Emulation, and this capability, coupled with high print quality, has enabled the production of some outstanding products.’

DuPont Packaging Graphics will be exhibiting the developments in the flexo printing with its latest innovation called Cyrel® FAST round.  Utilizing the Cyrel® FAST thermal flexo plate making technology, which is completely solvent-free, and its new sleeve manufacturing facility in America, DuPont is able to combine the two processes and offer the marketplace quick, efficient, consistent, high quality, improved register printing and an environmentally conscious method of producing flexo printing sleeves in half an hour.

Speaking for the company, Paul Hammons explained: ‘By using Cyrel® FAST round sleeves on a press instead of flat plates, many preconceived ideas are challenged. At the very least it represents new design opportunities for brand owners, designers and retailers whilst enabling printers and tradeshops to open new market segment opportunities to grow their business.’

The Packaging Innovations expo runs on February 16th/17th at the NEC, Birmingham (UK).
