3M adhesive to transform plate mounting

3M has introduced an ‘easy-on, easy-off’ adhesive for flexographic plate mounting and removal. Cushion-Mount Plus Tapes using the new Easy Mount Adhesive claim to go on easily without blistering, grip tight to resist edge lifting, and remove so easily you can virtually eliminate plate back treatment.

Unlike flat or pebbled liners, the liner on this tape series features a cross-hatched pattern that forms microchannels throughout the adhesive. During mounting, air flows through the channels and out from under the plate, aiding registration and preventing blemishes in screen and process printing.

The tight-gripping adhesive eliminates the work and time of sealing the plate edges and holds securely throughout the press run. When finished, the plate peels off easily with less likelihood of damage or kinks. 3M Cushion-Mount Plus Tapes with Easy Mount Adhesive are available with precise foam densities for flexographic process, halftone, or combination printing.
