AIM Global, the professional association recognized as the worldwide authority on automatic identification and mobility, has announced its co-sponsorship of the 20th annual Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technical Institute (AIDCTI) scheduled for Sunday, July 23 through Friday, July 28, 2006 on the Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio, USA.

The event is presented by the Center for Automatic Identification at Ohio University and is conducted by widely recognized, global technical experts. The Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and educating about automatic identification and data capture within industry and education. The event is co-sponsored by Ohio University, AIM Global and various corporate sponsors including Axicon AutoID, Datalogic, Hand Held Products, LXE, and Logmation.

According to AIM Global's president Dan Mullen: ‘AIM is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of Ohio University's AIDC Technical Institute. From the very beginning, the Institute has provided academicians with an excellent foundation in AIDC technologies that they can incorporate into their own curricula. Business and technical attendees usually come for one of two reasons. Either they are new to the business and want to learn the technologies and applications, or they're interested in learning the relationships of their technology to other AIDC technologies in order to better serve their clients.’

Typical sessions include:

•          Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

•          UID (requirements and technology)

•          Supply Chain/EDI/XML

•          Bar code printing, verification, and scanning

•          Biometrics

•          Global standards and commerce

•          Card technologies (smart cards, magnetic stripe, etc.)

•          Industry-specific applications (e.g. automotive, healthcare, US Department of Defense)

•          Data structures, data carriers, data communications, and data integration

•          Project implementation and systems integration

Sessions also include hands-on lab activities on all AIDC Technologies and their applications. AIM members are eligible to receive a substantial registration discount for the week.
