AIM Global, the professional association recognized as the worldwide authority on automatic identification and mobility, has announced ‘RFID: What You Don’t Know Can Fool You’, an educational series of teleconferences and webinars for journalists.

Designed for business media and technology writers at major media outlets around the world, the educational, 45-minute presentations from AIM industry experts will be moderated by AIM Global president Dan Mullen. Each webinar will objectively focus on topical RFID issues of interest to journalists who are writing for consumer and business audiences. The first in the series, ‘RFID: The State of the Industry’, is set for Wednesday, December 6, at 11:00 am EST.

Speakers for the first teleconference will be RFID experts Dr Bill Colleran, president and CEO of Impinj, and Fraser Jennings, VP, standards and regulatory activities, Savi Technology, a Lockheed Martin company. Topics in the first presentation will include a brief introduction to RFID, a full explanation of the current passive and active RFID market, and an introduction to current applications. Attendees will be invited to ask questions following the presentations. Pre-registration is required.

‘AIM Global takes our educational role in RFID very seriously,’ stated Mullen. ‘This series is an important way to inform and engage journalists focused on business and consumer issues who are writing about RFID, a technology solution that is often misunderstood. We have a responsibility to provide these key communicators with a complete, accurate perspective on RFID technology and its many implementations.’

Future sessions will include ‘RFID: Case Studies and Concerns’ and ‘RFID: What’s Next’. Dates for these presentations are scheduled for January and February 2007.
