Precision AirConvey appoints executive VP of operations

Jim West has been named executive vice president of engineering and operations for Precision AirConvey Corp (PAC), the manufacturer of trim handling systems, plastics recycling equipment and automated pneumatic conveying systems based in Newark, Delaware.

Bringing more than 30 years of experience in the design, development and global commercialization of high-tech machines and systems, West is responsible for driving the company’s operations including all facets of product design and engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, system installation, quality assurance and customer service. West’s appointment follows several months of involvement with the company in implementing key elements of Lean Enterprise and optimizing production processes while serving as president of Technology Consulting Network, Landenberg, Pennsylvania. A past director of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and president of the Machine Vision Association, the former chief technology officer for Faro Technologies and chief operating officer for Asyst Automation will focus on strategic operational planning and workflow efficiencies at PAC.

‘Jim brings a high level of veteran leadership and experience and an impressive record of technical ability and achievement,’ said Precision AirConvey CEO Tom Embley. ‘I expect him to play a key role in our strategic planning, new product innovations and continued expansion worldwide.’

Holding multiple patents for advances in 3-D laser measurement, robotics and machine vision, West earned a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on a General Motors Graduate Fellowship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University, Flint, Michigan.
