PrimeBlade appoints new head of R&D

PrimeBlade, a Swedish manufacturer and supplier of doctor blades for flexo, gravure, offset printers, and coating applications, has appointed Bartek Kaplan as a new head of its research and development division.

Kaplan will focus on further development our production facilities and developments of new doctor blade products, to further optimize the product performance.

Previously, Kaplan has held several roles, including senior R&D engineer and R&D manager at Sandvik Coromant, as well as an application engineer for additive manufacturing at Linde Gas. His academic merits also include regularly held lectures at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, as well as supervision of MSc and PhD students.

‘Over the years, I have gained experience as a researcher, salesman and leader in the fields of metallurgy and manufacturing,’ commented Kaplan. ‘I hold a PhD degree in computational materials science, and I am well-versed in the necessary experimental techniques. My education and my industrial background have provided me with a deep understanding of materials on all length scales, from properties on the atomic scale, to macro-scale components and their performance. I have extensive hands-on experience and expertise from product, process and materials development in the manufacturing industry, including additive manufacturing.’
