Sihl Group appoints ESG director

Sihl Group has expanded the responsibilities of its current head of purchasing, Stephan Schmitz, to a newly created position of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) director.

Sihl Group has expanded the responsibilities of its current head of purchasing, Stephan Schmitz, to a newly created position of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) director

‘ESG stands for a companies’ social responsibility in terms of conducting sustainable business,’ said CEO of Sihl Group, Peter K. Wahsner. ‘For Sihl, this includes the reduction of environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, the focus on sustainable energy sources and recyclable materials and products, as well as occupational safety and health for our employees, social commitment and corporate governance.

‘For us, the protection of our environment and the health of our employees are important components of our success and the guideline. As a company, we are striving to achieve an ESG rating by the beginning of 2022, which clearly documents that we are seriously addressing this issue. For this reason, we have created the new position of the ESG director for the Sihl Group, which Stephan Schmitz will take over from August.’

‘The aim of this function will be to further develop the ESG strategy of our company, to make it more concrete and to implement it throughout the entire Sihl Group. This is another important step in our efforts to become a sustainable company,’ added Schmitz commenting on his new appointment.
