Artwork co-operates with Hell on gravure engraving
Artwork Systems and Hell Gravure Systems have agreed to
collaborate in developing a 3D-Rip for direct laser engraving of packaging cylinders.
In a world premiere at drupa 2004, HELL unveiled the prototype of a laser engraver, which is the first in the world to create gravure cells directly in a copper or chromium surface. The various possibilities for controlling the laser enable the creation of gravure cells whose depth and area profiles can largely be defined at will and independently of each other.
Artwork Systems will work with HELL in developing a 3D-Rip that is able to utilize the full potential of the laser engraver.
Artwork Systems and HELL Gravure Systems have been working together on joint
development projects for the last 12 years. TIFF direct engraving is one of their
successes that has now become established as a global standard in packaging
gravure. Both partners see the development of the 3D-Rip as a continuation of this
successful partnership. Experts regard direct laser engraving as the technology of the future for gravure form production.
