Preparations to start for next year’s EFIA Awards

The European Flexographic Industry Association (EFIA) has called on printers and converters to prepare early for next year’s Print Awards programme after recently staging its 2013 event.

Some 22 gold, 20 silver and 15 bronze awards were presented in 2013 to the UK and European flexographic industry. The ceremony was held at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton in the UK on March 21.

Dean Stamford, Amcor business development director and EFIA board member said: ‘The quality of the entries this year was outstanding and to be able to bring along customers to show what our industry can do in terms of flexo technology performance is just a great opportunity.’

Amongst the winners was Douglas Storrie Labels, which picked up a gold award for “Flexo Print on Film – narrow web” category.

Other winners included: Label Apeel, which was highly commended in both of the “Flexo Print on Paper – narrow web” and “Flexo Print on Film - narrow web” categories; Labelgraphics Collotype, which came second behind Douglas Storrie Labels in the “Flexo Print on Film – narrow web” category; Olympus Labels, which picked up bronze in the same category; and   

Aside from print work, awards were presented in other categories, such as manufacturing efficiency. Paragon Print & Packaging claimed gold in the “Manufacturing Efficiency - printer” category, and IST (UK) coming out top in the “Manufacturing Efficiency - supplier” category for its MBS-6 UV system.

The “Supplier of the Year” title went to Sun Chemical, with Flint Group picking up bronze and Sandon Global silver.

Entries to the 2014 awards program are to be submitted during autumn 2013, with judging taking place in January 2014. The 2014 gala dinner and awards night will take place in March next year.
