Auxiliary equipment manufacturer unveils two roll splitters
Converting equipment manufacturer Precision AirConvey has added two roll splitters to its lineup of downstream auxiliary equipment.
The company said in a statement: ‘The PAC Model 52 roll splitter and the larger Model 62 automatically remove defective and/or out-of-spec stretch film, paper, foil and other material from their cardboard cores. In less than one minute, the roll splitters cleanly and safely separate the waste material from the core by applying hundreds of pounds per inch roll width of uniform cutting force to the entire length of the roll without touching the core itself. The purity of both the material and the core is assured while permitting the material to be immediately reclaimed and the core to be reused.’
Joining the PAC Model 30 and Model 72 Roll Splitters in the equipment line, the two roll splitters accommodate 52- and 62-inch long cardboard rolls respectively with roll diameters of up to 40 inches. Either a single roll or any mix of the same or varying diameter butt rolls may be split on a single machine by one operator.
All of the PAC roll splitters feature an OSHA-approved safety system that combines several layers of protection. The roll splitters include full guarding around the knife, an electrically interlocked safety surround enclosure and an electrical interlock on the mandrel plus operation requires simultaneous, two-hand control, among other precautions.
