Advanced Vision Technology has announced plans to acquire press automation specialist Graphic Microsystems, Inc. (GMI), from Dover Diversified, Inc., a subsidiary of Dover Corporation, for $33 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to close following the completion of due diligence in September 2007.

GMI is a supplier of closed loop color control systems, color management and reporting software and remote digital ink fountain control systems. Commenting on the acquisition, Shlomo Amir, president and CEO of Advanced Vision Technology, said: ‘The merger creates a major technology provider for the printing industry and brings AVT into a whole new league. Both companies are leaders in their fields and have developed unique technologies – AVT introduced machine vision to the printing industry and GMI's proprietary closed loop color control system is the only solution available based on spectral measurements, a key competitive edge.’
