BCF sees no end in sight for escalating raw materials costs
Printing Ink members of the British Coatings Federation (BCF) continue to report escalating raw materials costs; with the price of a barrel of oil recently topping US60$ and the price of copper, used mainly for metallic inks, increasing by a staggering 200 per cent.
BCF CEO Moira McMillan commented: ‘Despite recent consolidation and amalgamations within the industry which have resulted in significantly improved efficiency and lower production costs, margins have not improved, due to continuous pressure from raw material prices.
‘It is therefore necessary to alert printers to this situation, so that they can plan and budget for the inevitable future rise in printing ink prices.’
