UK converter Label Apeel signs German beverage deals

Label Apeel, the Leicester, UK-based self-adhesive label converter which serves the retail, food and manufacturing industries, has broken into the German beverage labeling market with two contract wins.
The company has signed exclusive deals with Weingut Herbert Becker, a vineyard in the Kraichgau wine region, and Mall-Brau, a brewery in Meckesheim, to supply bottle labels.
Stuart Kellock, managing director of Label Apeel, said: ‘We were interested in helping them to solve their problems; in the German industry few labeling businesses are willing to invest the time and effort for smaller brands. We helped the winery modernize its look and the brewery to solve a technical quality issue.’
Previously, Weingut Herbert Becker had front and back bottle labels. Now Label Apeel has designed a self-adhesive wrap-around label for its products. Weingut Herbert Becker has also taken advantage of Label Apeel’s free in-house design service by having the wrap-around label fully redesigned.
‘Weingut Herbert Becker wanted to keep but enhance its chapel logo and so we have redesigned the labels for premium brands and other products,’ said Kellock. ‘Mall-Brau had issues with the color of its labels previously, when it was using wet glue labels. We helped it to create new self-adhesive labels and solved the problem.’
