Comco sets sail for the sunny West Indies
Flexoprint has installed a Comco ProGlide MSP line at its brand new production plant on the island of Martinique in the Caribbean. The Comco sale, which was negotiated through the Mark Andy France office in Nangis, near Paris, was the result of a successful print demonstration at the company’s European headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
Speaking for Flexoprint, managing director and founder Roger De Jaham commented: ‘We researched the market carefully to establish the best all-round press to meet our customers’ specific self adhesive label requirements for bottle applications, using both paper and filmic substrates. The Comco really impressed us and made a clear case for itself.’
Based on print tests and the Comco ProGlide’s proven reputation for multi substrate converting worldwide, Flexoprint ordered a 16” seven-color model, fitted with UVT drying, chill drums, UV laminating, die cutting, and waste rewind. The start up business currently occupies a 600 m factory and employs 11 staff.
Production manager, Jorge Duarte outlined the Comco’s benefits: ‘We needed a versatile press that could run at high speed for long periods without any loss of print quality on whatever material we chose to use. The Comco has been brilliant at this – it has allowed us to meet the local demand, and given us the capacity to expand our business throughout the Caribbean.’
