The Finnish RFID product and service provider Confidex has launched 22.2.2006 MR01 – a testing system for UHF RFID inlays and labels. MR01 is an industrial testing system that offers quality control for the manufacture of Gen 2 labels.

‘We believe that the year 2006 will be the breakthrough for the Class1 Gen2 protocol in retail and logistics. Therefore, the quality of RFID labels is the critical factor in ensuring the inauguration of the technology. MR01 was developed to meet these needs of quality assurance, speed, and cost-efficiency in fast moving inline applications of RFID inlay manufacturing and label converting,’ explained CEO Timo Lindstrm.

The company said in a statement: ‘MR01 offers the fastest and the most reliable quality control for UHF inlays and labels in the market. It has a read testing speed of up 200,000 tags/hour (C1G2) and a write testing speed up to 18,000 tags/hour (C1G2). The system provides two separate inline testing points – a feature which has been specifically developed to serve the needs of the RFID manufacturing and label converting. It is possible to measure the yield of the process for example lamination, if there is testing point before and after the process.

‘The system operates without a host PC or complex user interfaces. MR01 can also be connected to a computer, which enables data collection for statistical process control. The new users of MR01 do not need profound RFID knowledge to operate the test system independently.’
