Copapharm Europe SCRL (Socit Cooperative Responsabilit Limite) has been established, representing a cooperative grouping with limited responsibility, and putting onto a more formal basis the previous loose alliance of independent packaging and labeling companies.

The original alliance developed as a result of pan-European pharmaceutical companies seeking print partners with local knowledge combined with extensive capability, enabling them to consolidate packaging requirements across a number of European countries for best effect. The additional benefits of using alliances like Copapharm are the support, cooperation and capacity available between Copapharm members for major and complex projects, as many of these specialists are already industry leaders in their respective countries. Other benefits include quality standards and continuous benchmarking that ensure Copapharm customers obtain the best printing and packaging solutions.

Chairman of the new holding company Bruno Chorzelewski said that each member company now had an equal shareholding in the new company, and that the working relationship between member companies would be further enhanced: ‘We have strengthened the objectives of the original alliance, and with this change are demonstrating to existing and potential customers that we have grown into a tangible organization. This can only benefit our customers in the future.’

There are ten member companies in Copapharm Europe, including Faller (Germany), Packart and Rotanotice (France), Palladio and Zannini (Italy), Goldprint (Belgium), Storey Evans (Great Britain), and Icesa, Pans and Cartonplex (Spain). They operate from a total of 19 manufacturing sites across Europe and have a collective total capacity of 6.5 billion folding carton units, 4.6 billion leaflet units and 3.2 billion label units.
