Datalogic buys into Alien
Datalogic, which claims to be the largest European manufacturer of barcode readers and portable Terminals, is buying a minority stake in the American company Alien Technology Corporation for a value around 1.3 million dollars.
Datalogic, through its subsidiary EMS, will develop readers and antennae for radio frequency labels. Alien Technology, with headquarters in Morgan Hill, California, develops low cost RFID labels using its Fluidic Self Assembly manufacturing process. The company has important orders from global fmcg players like Gillette and Tesco, and has developed partnerships with the main suppliers in its reference markets, including Avery Dennison.
