Impronta Digitale invests in latest SAI tech from Screen

The installation marks the third Screen machine for the Italian label manufacturer and the 100th sale for Screen of its SAI series machine.

Italian label company Impronta Digitale has expanded its digital inkjet capacity with the installation of a Screen Truepress Label 350UV SAI-S 5-color press. It is the third Screen machine for the company. And for Screen, the installation marks the 100th sale since the introduction of the SAI series in 2020.

‘This new press opens doors to new markets, increases our production capacity, and guarantees that our clients receive labels of consistent quality quickly and efficiently,’ said Linda Picello, co-owner of Impronta Digitale. ‘The acquisition of Screen machines fits our strategy of staying innovative to continuously enhance our competitiveness in this challenging market,’ she added.

Founded in 2013 by Linda and her brother Ludovico Picello, Impronta Digitale invests in cutting-edge technology for label printing. The company, located close to Venice, services a wide range of Italian businesses, from wine producers to pharmaceuticals.

‘What drove us to invest in digital presses is their ability to start production at any moment and produce labels of consistent quality and brilliance on every print run, while remaining competitive in the market,’ Linda Picello explained. ‘Our SAI machines operate 10 hours a day, in two shifts, five days a week, with an average production length of 1,000 meters per job – handling print runs from 30 to 10,000 meters. Investing in Screen’s technology was the right choice to allow us to grow and improve over time.’

SAI is Japanese for ‘colorful’ and the Truepress Label 350UV SAI-S comes with five or seven colors, allowing it to print colorful labels on a wide variety of substrates, including transparent and metallic material. The SAI-S is also equipped with high-density white.

Impronta Digitale uses Screen’s Equios software for managing print jobs, enabling what it describes as 'an industry 4.0-compliant workflow'. Equios is configured to run seamlessly in the background, providing the machine with rapid and automated print data. In addition, the Screen Trust system allows print operators to obtain all analytical information needed to effectively manage production times and resources.

Impronta Digitale bought its first Screen printer in 2013 and has continued to trust the Japanese provider of inkjet digital print technology ever since.

REM labels and packaging solutions, Screen’s representative in Italy, supported Impronta Digitale with selecting and installing the SAI machine. REM’s efforts contributed to the recognition of Truepress Label 350UV SAI as the one of the inkjet label printers in Italy.
