Labelnet adds second Domino
UK converter takes digital to 40 percent of output.
Labelnet, a UK manufacturer of self-adhesive labels, tickets and tags, has recently installed a second Domino digital label press, the N730i, after growing its digital production from zero in 2020 to around 40 percent of total output.
A dedicated flexo business for more than 25 years, Labelnet began building its digital capability in 2020 with a Domino N610i, after identifying demand for shorter runs and faster turnaround. The press let it shorten turnaround times from weeks to days or even hours, expand from food labels into the chemical and beverage sectors, and widen its range to embellished, foiled, variable data and multi-layer labels. Its mix of digital printing and flexo finishing was recognized in 2025, when its 'Noah Knows Best' peel-and-reveal beer label for Hackney Church Brewery won the Digital Labels & Packaging 'Excellence with Hybrid Printing' award.
'Introducing the first Domino machine in 2020, we were able to really change our business quite drastically. We quite quickly branched out, bringing studio work in-house and a new set of skills and expertise into the business. It's a great operational benefit for us to have that flexibility, and we're able to adapt to customer requirements on the spot,' said Rob Lorkins, managing director of Labelnet.

Facing growing demand for high-quality digitally printed labels, the company has recently added the N730i, which prints at up to 1,200 DPI and up to 90m/min. Real-time in-line raster image processing on the press's Sunrise DFE processes artwork, including variable data, as it prints, reducing pre-processing and idle time.
Digital has also created opportunities for skills development in Labelnet's existing workforce and attracted new talent. 'We've brought in a lot of younger people who have adapted to the technology very quickly, and we feel like that trend will continue,' noted Lorkins.
'Labelnet's investment in a second Domino press reflects the success it has achieved since embracing digital production. With the speed and 1,200 DPI print quality of the N730i, the company is well positioned to support continued growth, faster turnaround times and new application opportunities. We're delighted to continue to support the Labelnet team in doing more for their customers as they build on that success,' added Craig Clawson, sales manager at Domino Printing Sciences.
