Marzek Etiketten+Packaging installs first HP Indigo 6K+ in Austria
Austrian label and packaging specialist becomes the first company in Austria and among the first worldwide to invest in the latest digital offset press technology.

Marzek Etiketten+Packaging has installed the latest HP Indigo 6K+ digital offset press at its Traiskirchen facility, becoming the first company in Austria and one of the first worldwide to invest in the technology. The press, equipped with HP's new SmartControlSystem, aims to deliver enhanced print quality, productivity and automation capabilities.
The investment addresses growing customer demand for faster customization and shorter lead times. The HP Indigo 6K+ enables faster setup, consistency in repeat jobs and quicker changeovers between different substrates, allowing the company to reduce turnaround times while maintaining quality standards. The press also features connectivity through the PrintOS APP, providing a production control center for monitoring processes and retrieving reports.
'Our extensive investments are always about offering our customers added value and competitive advantages,' said Dr Johannes Michael Wareka, CEO of Marzek Etiketten+Packaging and fourth generation of the founding family.
The company previously demonstrated its pioneering approach in 2009 with the first Europe-wide commissioning of an HP Indigo WS 6000, followed by the purchase of an HP Indigo 6K in 2020. Chromos Group AG has served as the technical partner throughout these implementations.
The HP Indigo 6K+ offers an extensive portfolio of special colors and finishing options for high-resolution printing across various applications, including self-adhesive labels, in-mold labels, wraparound labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons. The press can integrate variable data such as personalized text, images or barcodes and process multiple substrate types.
'The growing demand from our customers for tailor-made, flexible approaches is the reason why we at Marzek Etiketten+Packaging rely on digital-conventional hybrid technology,' said Stefanie Wareka, chief marketing officer of Marzek Etiketten+Packaging and fifth generation of the Marzek family.
'We have made it our mission to reshape the future of printing and we can only achieve this with partners like Marzek,' said Noam Zilbershtain, vice president and general manager of HP Indigo. 'Over the years, they have been early adopters and innovators, always looking for new ways to offer their customers more.'
‘Apart from high-quality special labels with all finishes, our focus is on large print runs and ecological label and packaging solutions for our industrial customers, which naturally meet the highest industrial quality criteria,’ added Stefanie Wareka.
Further investments in digital and hybrid technologies are planned for the coming years, both for highly finished labels and industrial mass production.
