Xeikon takes Ecolyne model global

Flint Group Digital Xeikon takes its subscription-based digital label press model global after a successful Asia-Pacific debut.

Flint Group Digital Xeikon has rolled out its subscription-based Ecolyne digital label press model globally, positioning the offering as a lower-risk entry point for converters and commercial printers looking to expand into digital label production without major upfront investment.

The company first introduced Ecolyne in the Asia-Pacific market at Labelexpo Asia 2025 and is now extending availability worldwide as production capacity increases. Rather than purchasing the press outright, customers pay a fixed monthly fee to access digital label printing capacity, with Xeikon handling installation, servicing and uptime management.

The move reflects growing demand for shorter runs, faster turnaround times and greater production flexibility across the label sector, particularly among smaller converters seeking a more accessible route into digital production.

Frank Jacobs, senior product manager at Flint Group Digital Xeikon, said the model was designed to address a clear market need.

'Many printers want to enter or expand digital label production, but they do not want to tie up capital in ownership from day one,' he said. 'With Ecolyne, they gain access to industrial digital label capacity through a fixed monthly fee, with Xeikon taking responsibility for installation, service and uptime.'

One of the first companies to adopt the model is FG Larsson, a fourth-generation family-owned printer based in Örebro. The business turned to Ecolyne to bring food-label production in-house as customer demand shifted towards smaller, faster-turnaround orders.

According to the company, the subscription approach offered a way to invest in digital production without the financial burden typically associated with a conventional press purchase.

Magnus Lamke, owner of FG Larsson, said the model provided both flexibility and predictability.

'For us, the key advantage was that we could bring food label printing in-house without tying up capital from the start,' he said. 'The monthly fee gives us predictability and peace of mind, while the press gives us the flexibility and quality we need to serve local customers faster.'

Ecolyne is a fully managed dry-toner digital label press aimed at food-safe label production and mainstream applications. The platform features 1200 DPI resolution, a 330 mm web width, print speeds of 25 m/min and a five-color configuration with CMYK plus white.

To support the launch, Flint Group Digital Xeikon will host two Ecolyne launch events in June, including Xeikon Innovation Days in Lier on June 11 and a second event in Elgin on June 16.
