DuPont Packaging Graphics has announced a price increase in Europe, Middle East and Africa, effective April 1, 2008.

Increases of up to 6 percent – depending on the product – will be implemented across the entire range of DuPont Cyrel products. The announcement goes along with similar announcements in other regions around the world.

‘Cost improvement programs allowed us to delay this action for as long as we could,’ stated Bjoern Meth, business director for DuPont Imaging Technologies Europe MEA. ‘Photopolymer plate cost is highly dependent on oil based feed stocks. Over the last five years DuPont Packaging Graphics has aggressively pursued productivity and cost improvement plans to offset the nearly continuous increases in the cost of petroleum-based raw materials and energy costs of manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. We will keep on working to offset cost increases, but we’re now at a point where we have no choice but to adjust the prices of our products if we are to maintain a healthy business.’

‘We will launch four new Cyrel plates in 2008 – two for use in conventional solvent processes and two Cyrel Fast – and introduce several major new system offerings at this year’s drupa,’ continued Meth.
